Trump Advisors Plan to Privatize Native Lands to Tap Into Oil Rich Reservations

By  Lorraine Chow

The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) is only one battle in a larger war. Following news of the Army Corps’ decision to halt the pipeline’s construction, Reuters reported that President-elect Donald Trump’s advisors are seeking to privatize Native American reservations, which sit on an estimated 20 percent of the nation’s oil and gas, along with large amounts of coal reserves. These resources are worth nearly $1.5 trillion.

“We should take tribal land away from public treatment. As long as we can do it without unintended consequences, I think we will have broad support around Indian country,” said Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), a Cherokee tribe member and chair of Trump’s 27-member Native American Affairs Coalition.

The formation of the coalition was announced in October with the aim of electing Trump for president.

“As a local elected official, I am outraged that Indian Country is prevented from harnessing our own energy resources by ever-increasing regulations,” state Rep. Sharon Clahchischilliage (R-NM 4th District), a Navajo tribe member and coalition co-chair, said in October. “The Trump Administration will ease restrictions on American energy reserves worth trillions of dollars. Together we will block the bureaucrats holding Native American businesses back and bring new jobs into our communities.”

As it happens, three of the four chair-level coalition members have ties to Big Energy. According to campaign finance disclosures cited by Reuters, Mullin has received about eight percent of his campaign funds from energy companies while Clahchischilliage has received about 15 percent of her campaign funds from energy companies.

Fellow co-chair and Cherokee nation ex-chief Ross Swimmer said it is possible to privatize reservations while limiting land sales to non-Indian buyers.

“It has to be done with an eye toward protecting sovereignty,” said Swimmer, who is a partner at an Native American-focused investment fund that has invested in Energy Transfer Partners, the owner of the heavily contested DAPL.

However, prominent Native American leaders have spoken against privatization.

“Our spiritual leaders are opposed to the privatization of our lands, which means the commoditization of the nature, water, air we hold sacred,” said Tom Goldtooth, who runs the Indigenous Environmental Network and is a member of both the Navajo and the Dakota tribes.

“Privatization has been the goal since colonization—to strip Native Nations of their sovereignty,” Goldtooth added.

Thousands of Dakota Access Pipeline protestors are celebrating after the Army Corps’ rejection of the DAPL project but many water protectors also recognize the fight is not yet over. As Goldtooth said, this is “check, not checkmate.”

Despite the Army Corps’ decision, Energy Transfer Partners said that it is still committed to seeing this “vital” pipeline “brought to completion.”

Trump has holdings in Energy Transfer Partners and officially voiced support for the pipeline, even though his team said his support “had nothing to do with his personal investments and everything to do with promoting policies that benefit all Americans.” The incoming president has also picked climate change deniers and pro-fossil fuel bigwigs for cabinet positions.

Not only that, many pro-drilling politicians currently sit in a GOP-controlled House of Representatives and Senate. Following the Army Corps’ Sunday announcement, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) tweeted: “This is big-government decision-making at its worst. I look forward to putting this anti-energy presidency behind us.”

Oil Pipeline Shut Down After Spill, Just 200 Miles From Standing Rock

By Dan Zukowski

A six-inch crude oil pipeline operated by Belle Fourche Pipeline Company in western North Dakota was shut down following discovery of a leak on Monday. The amount of the spill was not immediately known, but oil has leaked into the Ash Coulee Creek in Billings County.

The site of the spill is about 200 miles from the camp where members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their supporters have been protesting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

“It is a significant spill,” Bill Suess, spill investigation program manager for the North Dakota Department of health, said.

“A series of booms have been placed across the creek to prevent downstream migration and a siphon dam has been constructed four miles downstream of the release point.”

The Belle Fourche Pipeline Co. is part of the family-owned True companies, which also operates Bridger Pipeline LLC. Both pipelines are operated from the same control room in Casper, Wyoming. From 2006 to 2014, Belle Fourche reported 21 incidents, leaking a total of 272,832 gallons of oil. Bridger Pipeline recorded nine pipeline incidents in the same period, spilling nearly 11,000 gallons of crude.

“In general, Bridger has a poor compliance history,” wrote a federal regulator charged with overseeing pipeline safety in a 2012 order regarding a 2006 oil spill.

A Belle Fourche pipeline that spilled 12,200 gallons in May, 2014 occurred on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land near Buffalo, Wyoming. It was later discovered that Belle Fourche did not have a permit to operate the land. Its sister company, Bridger, was fined $27,029 for trespassing by the BLM.

Bridger was also responsbile for dumping up to 50,000 gallons of crude into the scenic Yellowstone River in 2015.

While operators claim that oil pipelines are safer than trains or trucks, an aging infrastructure and inadequate oversight leads to numerous leaks, most of which never make headlines. A Nov. 30 analysis by Citylab revealed that more than 9,000 significant accidents over the past 20 years have resulted in 548 deaths, 2,576 injuries and more than $8.5 billion in financial damages. An Oct. 25 analysis by EcoWatch found 220 significant pipeline spills to date in 2016 and showed that the number of significant pipeline incidents has grown 26.8 percent from 2006 to 2015.

The Belle Fourche and Bridger pipelines transport crude oil in the Williston Basin of western North Dakota and eastern Montana and the Powder River Basin of Wyoming.

A Sharp, Unflinching Account of the Modern-Day Native American Experience

A Sharp, Unflinching Account of the Modern-Day Native American Experience (2000)

By Remember this

Published on Nov 30, 2016

The Oglala Lakota or Oglala Sioux (pronounced [oɡəˈlala], meaning “to scatter one’s own” in Lakota language[5]) are one of the seven subtribes of the Lakota people who, along with the Nakota and Dakota, make up the Great Sioux Nation. A majority of the Oglala live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, the eighth-largest Native American reservation in the United States. The Oglala are a federally recognized tribe whose official title is the Oglala Sioux Tribe (previously called the Oglala Sioux Tribe of the Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota). Of note, however, some Oglala reject the term “Sioux” because it was a name give to them by the Chippewa Nation, who were historically enemies of the Lakota. The term means “snake” and, as such, is seen as a slur.

In the early 1800s, whites passed through Lakota territory in greater and greater numbers. They sought furs, especially beaver fur at first, and later buffalo fur. The trade in fur changed the Oglala economy and way of life.

1868 brought the Fort Laramie Treaty, and in its wake the Oglala became increasingly polarized over this question: how should they react to continued American encroachment on their territory? Some bands turned to the Indian agencies—forerunners to the Indian reservations—where they received beef and other rations from the U.S. government. Other bands held fast to traditional ways of life. Many bands moved between these two extremes, coming in to the agencies during the winter and joining their relatives in the north each spring. These challenges further split the various Oglala bands.

After being moved several times during the 1870s after the Great Sioux Reservation was broken up into five portions, the Red Cloud Agency was relocated in 1878 and renamed the Pine Ridge Reservation. By 1890, the reservation included 5,537 people, divided into a number of districts that included some 30 distinct communities.

The respected Oglala elder Left Heron once explained that before the coming of the White Buffalo Calf Woman, “the people ran around the prairie like so many wild animals,” not understanding the central importance of community. Left Heron emphasized that not only did this revered spirit woman bring the Sacred Pipe to the tribe but she also taught the Lakota people many valuable lessons, including the importance of family (tiwahe) and community (tiyospaye). The goal of promoting these two values then became a priority, and in the words of Dakota anthropologist Ella Cara Deloria, “every other consideration was secondary — property, personal ambition, glory, good times, life itself. Without that aim and the constant struggle to attain it, the people would no longer be Dakotas in truth. They would no longer even be human.”[7] This strong and enduring connection between related families profoundly influenced Oglala history.

First used in 1961, this flag was approved by the Oglala Sioux Triba OST Council on March 9, 1962 as the flag of the Oglala Sioux Tribe (OST). The circle of eight teepees on the flag represent the nine districts of the reservation: Porcupine, Wakpamni, Medicine Root, Pass Creek, Eagle Nest, White Clay, LaCreek, Wounded Knee, and Pine Ridge. The red field represents the blood shed by the tribe in defense of their lands and an allegorical reference to the term “red man,” by which they were referred to by European Americans. The blue represents the sky, as seen in all four cardinal directions during the worship of the Great Spirit, and the elements. It also represents the Lakota spiritual concept of heaven or “the Spirit World” to which departed tribal members go.

Whistleblower John Bolenbaugh tears up explaining Standing Rock’s importance

Rod Webber

Whistleblower John Bolenbaugh, (a former oil employee), who has spent his life savings documenting oil spills– and who turned down a 60 million dollar settlement explains the dangers of oil pipelines everywhere, and why they are designed to fail. Oil companies profit from the insurance companies who pay them to clean up their own messes. These messes are poisonous because of the molotov cocktail of chemicals used to thin the tar sands. As John puts it, he is definitely not a tree-hugger, and was not an environmentalist in any way until he saw how it was making people sick. When he realized the gravity of the situation, (as he says in his own words), “he had to do something about it or go to hell.”

John is an encyclopedia of the horrors of big oil. I hope there are more interviews to come.

This is Agenda 21. Research it.

How can anyone be so evil? They aren’t human. When people realize this, like Roddy Pipper, they will have the eyes to see. We as Humanity need to put all our differences aside and come together to save ourselves and our future generations.

So the importance of standing up for Standing Rock is more important than you know.

This Black Snake is all over this country stealing and poisoning the lands by using imminent domain, they simply steal a great chunk of your land to run their black goo and the Oil Pipeline always leaks. I will post that story later.

There are incident in Kansas City pipeline explosion. Was there a leak? You can bet there was. They are fracking all over this biosphere making swiss cheese out of our rocks. The rocks loose their stability and turn to a toxic mush, creating earthquakes, landslides, sink holes and a black gooy mess on the land, distroing all in its path.

So the Elders vision was amazing and so true.

I am proud that our Veterans are taking a stand for Standing Rock.

Human right violations are occurring right now, by preventing supplies or first aid or taxi service. And robbing the innocent with fines is totally in your face criminality. Where are the Lawyers to file a massive class action law suit?  I think ever DAPL employee should have charges filed on them as well, like the Nazis during WWII, these goons need to be held personally responsible for their actions. If I were a Lawyer I would make each Stake holder of this Pipeline also personally responsible and liable in a personal action suit on wach one individually from all of the American people. This poisoning effects us all and our futures.

Lets show these Nazis that our land and water, air and life does not belong to them to trash and distroy the lives of our future children.

Watch the movie “They Live”, you will understand why the black snakes have no care for human life, land, fauna, or animals, they have no souls because they sold them to Lucifer. Sounds strange but truth is coming out, there are now 34 million Satanists in America alone. They will show themselves by the deeds they do. The enablers are the human police who are like the brown shirts during WWII who follow their fascist evil leader and did all kinds of atrocities to humans.

These Nazis have a game plan called Agenda 21, and they are the secret societies that President John F. Kennedy spoke of in his famous but fatal speech.
